Giovanni Battista Salvi’s Madonna and Child

This painting is a re-worked depiction of one of the Baroque painter, Giovanni Battista Salvi’s Madonna and Child, cir. 1609-1685.

Using the same techniques, I began painting the entire piece in monochromatic, black and white. Next, thinning down the colors to an ink consistency, I “glazed” the areas, allowing the values to show through the colors.
